Meet Our Team
Our story
Our story is a natural progression, beginning with a passion for beautiful furniture and leading to the opulent handcrafted furniture we produce today. From a small workshop in Pretoria, we have grown into an established manufacturing company, proud to stand among the industry leaders.
Strauss Bornman started manufacturing furniture in 2010. He had little experience in furniture design, but brought more than 30 years of marketing experience, a love of creating unique furniture and a very creative mind.
Unfortunately he passed away in 2026
Today we hold the largest Chesterfield range in Africa, with more than 28 different Chesterfield styles, and our name has become a byword for quality craftsmanship. With this as our foundation, we strive for artistic perfection and luxury products.
To us, luxury means distinctive, unique creations, designed to be timeless and valuable.
Materials
We specialise in 100% genuine leather furniture, especially Chesterfield sofas, but our range goes far beyond Chesterfields. Our pieces are designed around clean lines, smooth finishes and timeless elegance, and every material is carefully selected to meet our high standards.
We work with most of the larger fabric houses in South Africa, including Hertex, House of Fabrics and U&G, giving you a choice of thousands of high-quality fabrics. For leather we use only A-grade hides, and we offer a wide range of top-quality genuine game skins. In partnership with Crest Leather and African Game Skin, we select only the best skins for our Chesterfields.
Our craftsmen
Our furniture is master-crafted by knowledgeable, professional upholsterers led by Vongani Nkuna, Head of Upholstery. Lebogang, our Head of Textiles, preserves the traditional quality and craftsmanship of reupholstering, and Fabian Rossouw, Head of Carpentry, brings an intuitive eye for timeless quality and great design. Together they have created a look that is unmistakably ours.
Leather is not made, leather is BORN.
